Just me
So, you’re probably wondering how I came to call my blog “The Girl Who’s Always Hungry”. Ever see the various Penguins on Facebook? You know, the ones where each penguin has a “name” that corresponds with it’s personality. Well, I am usually the one that is labeled “the one who is always hungry,” and most of my friends know me as that. I really just love to eat. In fact when I first met my husband, he thought I would be a cheap date since I don’t drink, but I told him that what I save in drinks I more then make up for with the food I eat. Lucky for him, I also love to cook.
I grew up in a family of 5 with a huge extended family made of many family friends. We often spent each weekend at each other’s home with 20 or so people just sharing happy times around some very delicious home cooked meals. By the age of 10, my mother had decided that I would become the family chef and took it upon herself to teach me all that she could. I am now in my 30’s and I am still learning. Of course, back in those days, I didn’t appreciate or enjoy it as much as I do today, and now I have a collection of cook books and love cooking for my friends and family. I enjoy hosting small and intimate dinners as much as I love throwing a large get together. I enjoy the preparation process as much as I enjoy watching everyone enjoy their meal. In that respect, I am very much like my mother. I find a sense of joy watching others enjoy the food that I prepared.
I’ve been told many times I should open a restaurant, and I usually say that I would worry that if I did it as a profession I may not enjoy it as much as I do today. I would rather not take that risk.
So I really appreciate and admire those who do have the courage to open a restaurant, so when I find a restaurant that does it right, I make it a point to spread the word and help make them as successful as I can. That’s another reason for this blog. There are so many restaurants out there, and when you want to try a new place it’s always nice if you can find out what others thought about the food when they tried it.
I can’t promise that you will always agree with my opinion, but I will always share my true thoughts and feelings and welcome feedback from you on your own experience.
Enjoy and thanks for reading!
